EOC 2018 & Spring

So yes, the first highlight of the season is already behind… I can say it was somehow a “rollercoaster” or both emotions, feelings, and results.

Just shortly after a quite successful Tiomila with Halden SK, running the legendary Long Night and came to the change over in 5th place, it was all about Ticino… Once again 😉

So here I present a short comment, as reported on our PWT Italy Team website (orienteering.it):

“I’ve been looking forward to EOC in Ticino for a while, as the terrain isn’t too different from home (even though 5,5h driving far); anyway on the starting line of the EOC week I felt good, rested, and ready, thanks to several specific training camps in the area before.
The Sprint Q & F were both highly technical and demanding courses, after super feelings at the qualification in Bellinzona, I felt more tired and made several mistakes at the final in Mendrisio; but let’s see the positive side, before missing, top10 was reachable. GPS
The middle races went well, with a 9th heat time in the steep qualification race in Carona, and a 21st at the final in Serpiano.
The highlight of the week was definitely the Sprint Relay; being sent out in 8th place by Carlotta, I felt really good and managed to change over in 4th place, just 1″ behind the bronze medal. After all the four legs, a new PB for our team with a 10th place overall.
7 Races in 7 days are definitely too much for my body now, therefore both in the relay and long distance I couldn’t perform as I wanted, but this makes me even more hungry for WOC2018 in Latvia!”

EOC Curiosities:
